Sketchup has a direct export function to VRML. To perform the export, go to 'File - Export - 3D Model' and select the VRML (.wrl) file format. After selecting the format, make sure you select the 'Options' button to review the options. It is important that you select the box for 'Use Standard VRML Orientation'.
